Dissolve yeast in 1/4 c. warm water.

Melt shortening, sugar and salt in 3/4 c. warm water.

Add egg, also the dissolved yeast to the above mixture.

Add enough flour to make soft dough.

Let stand in warm place until twice in size, about 1 hour.

Punch down and add flour until you can roll.

Make in desired shape.

Let rise until twice in size about 1 hour.

Brush with butter and bake in 400 degree oven about 6 minutes for brown and serve rolls.

Bake longer if you plan to eat them immediately.

These rolls are fine for reheating.
