Heat milk to 110° to 115°; remove from heat.
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm milk in small bowl.
Let stand 5 minutes.
Combine remaining milk, honey, shortening, salt and whole wheat flour. Beat at medium with electric mixer until smooth.
Gradually stir in enough all-purpose flour to make it stiff.
