Vera's Chocolate Cake
Vera'S Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. shortening, 1 c. buttermilk or sour milk, 2 c. cake flour, sifted 3 times and 2 eggs, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Cream shortening and sugar together.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add flour and milk a little at a time, starting and ending with flour, and beat well.
Add melted chocolate, then add vinegar, salt and soda which have been dissolved together.
Beat well, and bake in two 9-inch greased and floured pans, about 30 or 35 minutes at 350Β°.
Frost with favorite icing.
