Sift together the first 4 ingredients.
Cut in shortening until mixture is like coarse crumbs.
Add milk all at once.
Stir with fork to ball stage. Knead lightly, about 10 times. Roll or pat dough 1/2 to 1-inch thick. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 450Β°. Makes 16 medium biscuits.
