Cream shortening.
Add sugar gradually and cream well.
Add eggs; beat well after each one.
Add sweet potatoes; mix well. Sift together rest of dry ingredients.
Mix well and bake in a greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 45 to 50 minutes.
Top with Caramel Icing.
