Dissolve yeast in water (add a little honey to water).
Stir in 2 cups flour, salt, sugar and shortening.
Add egg.
Beat batter; add remaining flour and mix with a spoon.
Knead until smooth.
Let rise, loosely covered, 25 minutes or until doubled in size.
Shape as desired.
Bake at 425Β° for 12 to 20 minutes. Makes 1 1/2 to 2 dozen.
