Strawberry-Buttermilk Freeze
Strawberry-Buttermilk Freeze is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/4 c. fresh or frozen, thawed strawberries, 2 c. buttermilk, 1/4 c. sugar, 2 egg whites, beaten and 1 tsp. vanilla extract, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Combine 1 1/4 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, buttermilk and sugar in food blender.
Chop until smooth.
Pour the mixture into an 8-inch square pan and freeze 1 to 2 hours or until slushy. Combine beaten egg whites, vanilla and frozen strawberry mixture in blender and process until smooth.
Return mixture to pan and freeze until firm.
Allow to stand at room temperature for about 20 minutes before serving.
Garnish each serving with fresh strawberries, if desired.
Yields 1 quart.
