Stove Top Apple Butter
Stove Top Apple Butter is an easy dinner. Made with 7 lb. cooking apples, unpeeled, cored and quartered, 3 c. water, 3 1/2 c. sugar, 1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon and 1 stick cinnamon (approximately 4 inches), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
In a heavy pan bring apples and water to a boil.
Reduce and simmer until apples are tender.
Press apples through a colander. Discard peels.
Return pureed apples to heavy pan.
Stir in other ingredients.
Simmer, uncovered, stirring frequently until thick and color is dark brown, about 7 to 8 hours.
Freeze.
Makes about 6 cups.
Delicious with hot homemade bread.
