Split Pea Soup
Split Pea Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. pkg. green split peas, 2 qt. water, 1 meaty ham bone, 1 1/2 c. sliced onions and 1/2 tsp. pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Cover peas with water and soak overnight.
Drain.
Add the 2 quarts of water, ham bone, onions and seasonings.
Bring to boiling.
Cover, reduce heat and simmer 2 hours.
Stir occasionally.
Remove bone and cut off meat.
Return meat to soup; add remaining ingredients.
Cool slowly for 45 minutes.
Salt to taste.
Makes 8 to 10 servings.
