Split Pea Soup
Split Pea Soup is an moderately easy soup you can prepare in about 1 hour 14 minutes. Made with c. dried split peas, qt. water, ham bone, medium onion, finely chopped and c. finely chopped celery, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.
In large saucepan, heat peas and water to boiling and boil for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Cover and let stand for 1 hour. Add ham bone, onion, celery, parsley, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Heat to boiling.
Reduce heat.
Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Add carrots.
Cover and simmer for an additional 30 minutes. Remove bone.
Trim meat from bone and add meat to soup.
