Southern Date Nut Cake
Southern Date Nut Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 lb. walnuts, chopped, 3 (8 oz.) boxes chopped dates, 1 1/2 c. sifted flour, 1 1/2 c. sugar and 1 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Combine nuts and dates; mix well.
Add flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Continue to mix well.
Use your hands to mix evenly.
Beat eggs in a bowl.
Add vanilla and chopped cherries. Mix with hands to work the batter thoroughly.
The mixture will seem a little dry.
Grease and flour a tube pan generously.
Line the bottom with wax paper.
Pack mixture into the tube pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours at 300Β°.
