Sourdough Bread
Sourdough Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. milk, scalded, 2 tbsp. sugar, 3 tbsp. shortening, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 c. sourdough starter, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Combine milk, sugar, salt and shortening; cool.
Put Sourdough Starter in large bowl.
Add cooled milk mixture; stir in flour to make pliable dough.
Turn out onto lightly floured board; knead for 1 or 2 minutes.
Place in greased bowl; brush with melted shortening.
Cover; let rise until double in bulk.
