Sopaipillas
Sopaipillas is an easy dinner. Made with 2 c. flour, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. shortening, 1/2 c. water and shortening for frying, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Sift all dry ingredients together.
Work in shortening and lukewarm water to make a soft dough.
Chill in refrigerator.
Roll out dough on floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut into 2 inch squares.
Deep fry in hot shortening at 400Β° a few at a time.
Brown on each side and drain on paper towel.
Serve hot. To eat, break open and pour in honey or use honey butter.
