Soft Molasses Cookies

Made with 1/2 c. butter, softened, 1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening (not margarine), 1 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. molasses and 2 eggs, lightly beaten, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. In a large bowl, cream together butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in molasses and eggs; set aside.
In another large bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, cloves and cinnamon.
Mix flour into creamed ingredients until dough is smooth.
Roll into 1 1/2-inch balls.
Dip tops in sugar. Place 2 1/2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet at 350Β°.
