Slow-Cooked String Beans And Ham is an easy dinner. Place the ham bone or piece of ham steak in a heavy saucepan or Dutch oven with water to cover and bring to a boil.
Top and tail the string beans; cut them to 2-inch lengths.
Add the beans to the boiling ham bone along with the remaining ingredients. Lower to a simmer and cook for 1 hour.
