Shells and Sauce
Shells And Sauce is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 (no. 46) large shell macaroni, 1 lb. sweet or hot sausage, 1 lb. ground beef, 1 qt. tomato purée and 1/2 c. grated cheese, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

In large pan, pour olive oil and onion; simmer.
Add ground beef and sausage (brown).
Add tomato purée and tomato paste. Cook about 2 hours on low heat, covered.
Cook shells as directed. Drain; rinse with cold water.
In a large baking dish, alternate layers of sauce, cheese and shells.
Cover bottom of pan with sauce first.
End with sauce on top.
Bake at 350° for 40 minutes.
