Sheila's Irish Soda Bread
Sheila'S Irish Soda Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. flour, 1/4 c. sugar, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. baking soda and 1/2 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Cut 1/4 lb. margarine into the above mixture.
Add 2 Tbsp. caraway seeds, 1 c. raisins (loosely packed).
Add 1 1/2 c. buttermilk.
Stir until all moistened.
Grease and flour a heavy pan or 10 inch cast iron skillet.
Cut a cross into dough, bake 45 minutes to 1 hour at 350Β°. After about 30 minutes in oven, rub a stick of margarine over the top and around the sides of pan.
