Scalloped Tomatoes
Scalloped Tomatoes is an easy dinner. Made with 4 cold biscuits (homemade), broken in small pieces, 2 (1 pt.) cans tomatoes, 2/3 c. sugar (heavy), 1/2 stick butter and dash of nutmeg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Cover bottom of greased baking dish with bread crumbs from 2 biscuits.
Add 1 can of tomatoes and juice, 1/2 of the sugar and 1/2 of the butter.
For the second layer, add the remaining tomatoes, sugar, butter, nutmeg and bread crumbs.
Bake at 350Β° for about 1 hour.
Stir 3 or more times while baking.
