Sauerbraten Stew is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 doz. meatballs, cooked (make ahead), 4 carrots, sliced and cooked, 1/3 c. chopped onion, 2 tbsp. wine vinegar and 1 tbsp. dark brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Using powdered nonfat gravy mix, mix with water as directed. Add gingersnaps.
Cook slowly 5 minutes. Add cooked, sliced carrots, wine vinegar, chopped onion, brown sugar and bay leaf. Simmer for 1/2 hour.
Serve wide noodles, if desired.
