Cream margarine and sugars. Beat in eggs. Sift together flour, soda and add to creamed mixture. Stir in hot water, oats, chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. Let sit for 1-2 minutes on sheets before lifting with spatula to racks to cool.
These freeze very well and are even great eaten right from the freezer!
