Stir together flour, sugar, salt and baking soda in bowl.
Add brown sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Mix well.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add oats.

Roll dough to desired thickness on board or canvas sprinkled with confectioners sugar and cut into shapes.
Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes in a 350Β° oven.
