Combine 1 1/2 cups sugar with flour, salt, butter and egg yolks.
Beat well.
Beat egg whites until stiff, adding 1/2 cup sugar.
Fold into egg yolk mixture; fold in rhubarb.
Pour into unbaked pie shell.
Bake in preheated oven at 400° for 10 minutes, reduce heat to 325° and bake 40 to 50 minutes.
