Cream shortening and sugar.
Add well beaten eggs and vanilla. Mix flour, salt and cocoa together.
Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.
Dissolve baking soda in vinegar.

Bake in a greased and floured pan at 350Β° for about 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean when placed in the middle of cake.
