Cream butter, sugar and eggs.
Mix coloring and cocoa together.
Add to creamed mixture.
Add salt to buttermilk and add alternately with flour.
Add vanilla and soda.
Beat 2 or 3 minutes until well blended.
Bake in 3 (8-inch) pans, that have been greased and floured, in a 350Β° oven for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
