Red Cherry Pie
Red Cherry Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 (16 oz.) cans pitted tart cherries, 3/4 c. sugar, 1/4 c. plus 1 tbsp. cornstarch, 1/4 tsp. cinnamon and 1/2 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Drain cherries, reserving 1 cup juice.
Set cherries aside. Combine 3/4 cup sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon in a medium saucepan; stir mixture to remove lumps.
Stir cherry juice into sugar mixture.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened.
Remove from heat.
Stir in cherries, 1/2 cup sugar, butter and almond extract.
Stir in food coloring. Bake at 425Β° for 45 to 55 minutes.
Makes one 9-inch pie.
