Raspberry Crisscross Cookies

Sift dry ingredients; cut in shortening as for pie.
Add eggs and milk.
Keep 1/4 of dough out.
Spread rest on 10 x 15-inch cake tin.
Press dough well up along side of pan.
Spread with jam. Sprinkle with nuts.
Pinch off pieces of reserved dough with palms of hands and make 1/2-inch strips.
Place on top for crisscross at 1 1/2 inches apart.
Bake at 350° to 375° for 45 minutes.
Let cool in pan.
Cut with sharp knife in center of each strip so that each piece has dough around.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
