Prune Bread
Prune Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. boiling water, 2 c. chopped pitted prunes (save liquid), 2 tsp. soda, 2 tbsp. shortening and 1 1/4 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Pour boiling water over pitted prunes and dissolve the soda in this and let stand for a while.
Mix the shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla.
Add sifted dry ingredients to shortening mixture alternately with liquid drained from prunes.
Add 2/3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts and prunes.
Bake at 300Β° for 1 hour.
Let stand overnight before slicing.
Slice very thin and serve with butter.
