Prince of Wales Cake
Prince Of Wales Cake is an impressive dinner. Made with 3/4 c. butter, 1 c. sugar, 2 eggs, 2 tbsp. molasses and 2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs and molasses; beat thoroughly.
Sift flour with spices, baking powder, soda and salt.
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately in thirds with buttermilk, beating smooth after each addition. Grease two 8-inch cake pans.
Pour batter in pans.
Bake at 375° (you may have to adjust oven heat to 350°) for 30 minutes.
Take layers out of pans and cool thoroughly on cake racks.
Assemble layers together with Lemon Filling and frost with Boiled Icing.
