Lightly butter a sheet of aluminum foil.
Combine sugars, cream and salt in a large saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until 228° on candy thermometer.
Stir in butter and pecan halves.
Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until 236°. Remove from heat and cool 5 minutes.
Beat mixture with wooden spoon until slightly thickened.
Drop candy by large spoonfuls on buttered foil.
