Pound Cake

Have milk and eggs at room temperature.
Sift dry ingredients together twice.
Cream sugar and shortening real well; add eggs one at a time and beat until sugar is dissolved.
Add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately, add lemon and vanilla.
Pour into greased and floured tube pan baking at 350Β° for 50 to 60 minutes.
Cool in pan before taking out.
