Poppy Seed Torte
Poppy Seed Torte is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 c. graham cracker crumbs, 1 c. flour, 1/2 c. melted butter, 1/2 c. chopped nuts and 1 1/2 c. milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Preheat oven to 325Β°.
Mix together the crumbs, flour, butter and nuts.
Pat into a 10 x 14-inch pan.
Bake until light brown. Combine the milk, 1 cup sugar and beaten egg yolks into top of double boiler; beat until sugar is dissolved.
Add poppy seed, cornstarch and salt; cook until thick.
Dissolve gelatin in water; add to cooked mixture.
Fold in vanilla.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Add sugar and cream of tartar; fold into cooled filling.
Pour into crust.
Top with whipped cream.
Refrigerate.
