Plain Cake

Measure the shortening in a bowl.
Sift in the flour and sugar.
Stir in the eggs and 1/4 cup of milk.
Beat 2 minutes or 300 strokes.
Add 3/4 cup milk and vanilla.
Beat 75 strokes.
Put mixture in a prepared cake pan and bake at 375Β° until done.
