Penuche Fudge
Penuche Fudge is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/4 c. melted butter, 1 c. sugar, 1 c. packed brown sugar, 1/4 tsp. salt and 3/4 c. sour cream, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Combine butter, sugars, salt and sour cream in saucepan. Simmer until sugar is melted, then cover and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat.
Remove cover and cook to soft ball stage (234° to 240° on candy thermometer).
Do not stir.
Set pan in cold water until mixture cools to lukewarm.
Stir in nuts and vanilla. Spread in greased 9-inch square baking pan.
Cool and cut into pieces.
