Mix sugar, corn syrup and milk; cook on stove until thermometer reaches 236° (soft-ball stage).
Remove from heat. Add margarine; cool syrup until lukewarm (110°).
Add vanilla, peanut butter and nuts.
Beat until candy begins to thicken and loses its high gloss.
Turn immediately into a buttered 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
When cool, cut into squares.
