Boil sugar and milk, without stirring, to 234Β° or until mixture forms a soft ball.
Remove from heat; cool slightly.
Add peanut butter, vanilla and salt.
Beat until it just loses its gloss.
Spread into buttered pan.
Cut into squares.
Makes 1 1/2 pounds of fudge.
