Preheat oven to 375°.

Thoroughly cream the shortening, sugars and vanilla. Add eggs; beat thoroughly.

Stir in peanut butter; sift dry ingredients.

Stir in creamed mixture. Form into tiny balls.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press with fork to make crisscrosses.

Dough may also be rolled and cut, if desired.

Bake at 375° for 10 minutes. Yields about 8 dozen.
