Combine sugar, corn syrup and water in heavy skillet.

Cook slowly.

Stir until sugar is dissolved.

Cook to soft ball stage. Add salt and peanuts.

Cook to hard crack stage, stirring constantly.

Stir in butter and soda (mixture will be bubbly).

Pour on buttered cookie sheet.
