Heat a small amount of oil in a large skillet.
Fry chicken until browned.
Drain.
Place chicken in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
In a saucepan, saute onions in butter.

Pour over chicken.
Bake at 350Β° for 1 hour, basting occasionally.
