Orange Cream Pie
Orange Cream Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. orange juice, rind of 1 orange, grated, 3/4 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. flour and 1/2 pt. heavy whipping cream, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Mix in saucepan the sugar and flour.
Add orange and lemon juices, orange rind, beaten egg and butter.
Cook until thick, stirring constantly; chill thoroughly.
Add 1/2 pint heavy cream, whipped.
Slit angel food cake into 3 layers.
Top each slice with whipped cream mixture and place together.
Cover sides with whipped cream mixture and garnish with mandarin orange slice, if desired.
Place in refrigerator overnight.
