Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies
Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. raisins, 2 c. sifted flour, 1 tsp. soda, 1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. cinnamon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Preheat oven to 375°.
Cover raisins with hot water.
Simmer 10 minutes.
Drain; reserve 1/2 cup raisin liquid.
Sift flour with soda, salt and cinnamon.
Gradually add sugar to shortening in mixing bowl.
Cream until light and fluffy.
Blend in eggs and vanilla; beat well.
Stir in raisins and reserved raisin liquid. Add sifted dry ingredients, rolled oats and nuts; mix thoroughly. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden.
Yields 60 to 72 cookies.
