Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg.
Beat at medium speed the butter, sugar and egg until light and fluffy.
At low speed, mix in milk and vanilla. Gradually add flour mixture, mixing well.
Refrigerate several hours.
Roll dough 1/4-inch thick and cut with cookie cutters. Place 1 inch apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375Β° approximately 10 minutes or until golden brown.
