Nissen Salad
Nissen Salad is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 (no. 2) can crushed pineapple, 1 c. sugar, 1 tbsp. (1 pkg.) unflavored gelatin, 1/4 c. cold water and 3/4 c. nuts, chopped, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Boil pineapple and sugar together for 5 minutes.
Dissolve gelatin in cold water.
Add to hot pineapple and stir until dissolved.
Chill until the mixture is the consistency of unbeaten egg whites.
Soften cream cheese and whip with a fork until smooth.
Stir in nuts and add to pineapple mixture.
Whip cream and fold into the salad.
Pour into mold or dish.
Keep in refrigerator.
You can add a few chopped green and/or red maraschino cherries.
