Made with 2 c. sugar, 2 c. plain flour or 2 c. self-rising flour and leave out soda, 1 c. vegetable shortening, 1 stick margarine and 1 c. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Mix sugar and flour in bowl.
In a saucepan, put shortening, margarine, water and cocoa; bring to a boil over low heat. Combine with dry ingredients.
Add eggs, buttermilk, soda, cinnamon and vanilla.
Bake 45 minutes at 350Β°.
Pour Neighbors Chocolate Cake Icing over hot cake.
