My Mom's Crumb Cake
My Mom'S Crumb Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. flour, 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. allspice and 2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon and allspice.
Stir in brown sugar.
Mix shortening in with dough blender until coarse meal.
Reserve 1/2 cup mixture for topping.
Stir in buttermilk, vanilla and soda (mix soda with a little warm water in measuring cup that buttermilk was in).
Spread in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan; sprinkle with reserved topping on top and also sprinkle on cinnamon.
Bake at 375Β° for 20 to 25 minutes.
