Molasses Sugar Cookies

Melt shortening in a large saucepan over low heat.
Let cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg.
Beat well.
Sift flour, soda, spices and salt.
Add dry ingredients to pan.
Mix well and chill.
Form balls and roll in sugar.
Place on greased cookie sheets to bake at 375Β° for 8 to 10 minutes.
