Molasses Sugar Cookies

Cream shortening and sugar; add molasses and egg and beat well.
Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices.
Add to sugar mixture and mix well.
Chill about an hour.
Form into 1-inch balls.
Roll in granulated sugar and place on greased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart.
Bake in a 375Β° hot oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
Watch closely.
Remove from sheets to cool.
