Beat the egg whites until stiff; set aside.
Cream butter and sugar.
Add 2 of the yolks, one at a time, beating well after each.
(Other 2 yolks can be used in making fillings, if needed.) Add flour and milk alternately until all is used.
Add vanilla and soda water.
Fold in egg whites.
Bake in three 9-inch greased and floured pans at 350Β° for 30 minutes.
