Mock Sauerbraten(Pot Roast)
Mock Sauerbraten(Pot Roast) is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 1/2 to 4 lb. bottom round or rump roast, 3 tbsp. crisco, 1 medium onion, quartered, 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce and 1 c. vinegar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Sear meat on all sides in Crisco in Dutch oven or similar pot. Add all ingredients.
Leave carrots whole or cut in half.
Cook 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Remove carrots, cloves and bay leaves and add flour paste to thicken sauce.
Mixture will make about 1 quart sauce or gravy.
Slice meat thin.
