Mile High Biscuits
Mile High Biscuits is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. flour, sifted, 2 tbsp. sugar, 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar and 3/4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Preheat oven to 450Β°.
In mixing bowl, sift together dry ingredients.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
In another bowl, combine egg and milk.
Beat lightly with fork.
Add to flour mixture all at once, stirring enough to make soft dough.
Turn out onto floured board, knead 15 times.
Roll out to 1-inch thickness.
Cut into 2-inch rounds.
Place on ungreased baking sheet, about 1-inch apart.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden.
Makes 16 biscuits.
