Lightning Cake
Lightning Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. butter, 1/2 c. sugar, 4 egg yolks, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/3 c. sugar (for topping), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Soften butter, then cream.
Add sugar and beat until smooth. Add yolks and beat.
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla.
Pour dough into 8-inch layer cake pans.
Beat egg whites and add 1/3 cup sugar.
Spread egg white mixture on top of the dough.
Sprinkle nuts evenly on top of meringue.
Bake at 350Β° for 40 minutes or until slightly brown.
